Standing Pair

In the Spring sunshine,
two young ash trees
standing side by side,
quite close like lovers,
both in flower -- one male
with thick brown clumps of seed
and very new sharp-shooting leaves,
one female, fanning out her fresh
green, heart-shaped, mini-petals
on slender stalks in an open posy
waving, dancing, beckoning,
her future fruits, the keys.
Both trees are utterly beautiful,
full of light
like you two on your wedding day.
